WHY KRISTY LEE PHOTOGRAPHY?
Hannah’s Family – Perth Family PhotographerAs a family photographer it is always a pleasure when you get peopler like Hannah and her beautiful babies book you. They are such gorgeous souls. We are so lucky here in Perth to have the BEST winter sunsets. They always create something magical for my clients who opt for a winter outdoor session. Hannah was a little nervous because she had never had professional photos before which is totally normal. I always aim to make my clients comfortable in front of the camera so I select locations that are generally fairly quiet so we don’t have too many bystanders. And of course I want my clients to have the feeling of me not being there and although I guide them a little I like the camera to really capture their story.

Gemma’s Family – Perth Family Photographer
This year has certainly been a strange year for everyone. Closing my doors during lockdown for Perth from the end of April for a few months really made me realise how much I missed and loved my job as a family photographer. I was so happy that when I able to open the doors again at the end of May that I had a number of beautiful families lined up ready to go. So many of them saying to me how lockdown had made them realise how they were missing those precious photos over the years on their walls.
I think in this day and age, we are so busy that time just gets away from us and before we know it we are 5-10 years down the track with no family photos to show for it. Or we get photos of our babies and don’t get in the photos ourself. I am totally guilty of this myself. Waiting until I loose some weight or that magical day when I think I would feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Which is actually crazy considering it’s my job to make others feel comfortable in front of the camera so know that a great professional photographer will make you feel that way.
Anyway, I had so much fun with Gemma and her family. I had met her babies for a Christmas Session before so was so happy that Gemma was jumping in some photos this time. She had requested a shoot at her property and to be honest I am always a little wary of this. The reasons are usually because I have specific locations I use because I know those specific locations give my clients a few different looks for their session, I know the lighting and what to expect from it so I can give my clients the best results. However when I asked Gemma to send me photos of their property I was like OF COURSE we can do your session there. It was perfect with autumn leaves everywhere with stunning light coming in over the west. I couldn’t of picked a better place myself.
This time of year from Autumn through early spring is my favourite time of year to do outdoor family sessions. Most are scared off by the cooler weather but the truth is, Perth in Summer has harsh sunsets over the ocean with crazy winds. This time of year the days that aren’t washed out are generally stunning sunsets, soft lighting, calmer winds and just so perfect for outdoor family photos. Not to mention the snuggles under the blankets you get to keep warm.

With Spring just around the corner it’s time to come off my outdoor break and make use of this stunning light and calm evenings that Perth Springs have to offer. The truth is that even though it’s a little cooler than summer, the nights are much better for photos with winds being much nicer to us and the light not quite as harsh as that summer light.
And to celebrate this beautiful time of year, I am offering 5 lucky families $200 off their Family outdoor session. With a choice of location in the Rockingham area, I cannot wait to help some special families capture those moments. Running, playing, loving on each other.

The Beauty Of Nude Maternity
Pregnancy. I would have to say as a women it is the most incredible times of our lives and as I get older I feel a sense of privilege. Not only for being able to carry 4 healthy babies to term myself but also being able to capture this amazing time in my clients lives. I know during pregnancy it’s sometimes hard to see ourselves as beautiful as our body is changing so rapidly. But trust me looking back with nothing from that time from mine, it is something you will treasure in years to come. I mean it’s sometimes think it’s more scary than beautiful but I see the beauty in ever bump and it brings me so much joy to be able to celebrate the womens body in these beautiful nude portraits I am now offering in studio.
It was so wonderful to capture these elegant and graceful images for my beautiful friend Corinna that she can treasure forever. The womens body doing something only we can do in it’s purest form.
Newborn Session – Aisla
Miss Aisla came into the studio last week for her newborn session and I must say I am always excited when the parents have special requests. Especially when it is something meaningful like bringing their culture into some of the photos. Beautiful little Aisla is lucky enough to have not 1 but 2 beautiful cultures to celebrate. Ashah (Mum) who who wanted to celebrate her Aboriginal culture and Dad Ben who wanted to incorporate his Maori culture. Two beautiful cultures combined to create something super special in the form of a magical little girl.
Are you expecting? I take very limited numbers of newborns per month due to the fact I prefer to do their photos in the first 2 weeks. And of course they never tend to go on their due date. This leaves a very short time frame to fit them in. It’s never too early to secure your dates. I lock in your due month and we lock a date in as soon as Bub arrives. As you can see from Aisla’s session, I am more than happy to incorporate special requests where possible. Please contact me if you have anything in particular you are after.
Can you believe I am already having bookings for Jan 2020?! Newborn photos are invaluable so I always suggest booking early to avoid missing those first precious moments. Prices will also be increasing in 2020 but all bookings done before prices are confirmed will be locked in at 2019 pricing. Feel free to message me to discuss your options. I also have these helpful blogs to help guide you on choosing a photographer that is right for you.

Newborn Photos – Neath
As you would know from a previous blog, I have photographed this beautiful family for each and every new arrival. So it was of course a pleasure when Mr Neath arrived earlier this month and came for his newborn photos. All of Jo and Gav’s babies have looked so similar! But as you can see by Eira and Brecon they grow into their own little person with big beautiful personalities and I have no doubt Neath will be the same.
I love including the whole family with my newborn sessions. Generally we get the family and sibling photos done first so Dad can take the kids for some special one on one time and I finish the newborn session with the new addition whilst Mum relaxes. Win win for everyone and the kids love the fact they get Dad to themselves for a while. And of course Mum’s always love to relax 😉

Milestone Session – Oscar Turns 1
Milestone Sessions! One of the best things about being a family photographer is watching all these beautiful little people grow up. Lots of my little clients now even call me Aunty Kristy which makes my heart so happy. It is such an honour and you kind of become an extended part of the families (well I feel that way anyway!). I first met this gorgeous little man Oscar as a tiny little newborn one year ago now (above on the left). From memory he was a few weeks early and was teeny tiny and super adorable! I was thrilled when his Mum booked a one year milestone session to celebrate his first birthday and he is still as adorable as ever but this time had the gorgeous personality to go with it!
Thinking of a family or milestone session? The next 6 weeks or so is a magical time for photos! Spots are limited but I still have room for a few sessions during this time.
Mummy and Me Sessions Conclude
Another year down for my Mummy and Me Sessions to celebrate Mothers Day 2019! We were blessed with beautiful weather and were able to capture many beautiful Mummas with their babies. It’s funny, so many families think outdoor photos are best in the summer but the truth is the nights may be cooler but Perth Autumn and even winter nights are magical for photos. The winds drop, the sunsets are incredible and some of my favourite outdoor sessions are done during the cooler months.
I am often asked if I do Mummy and Me sessions during the year or if it’s only done for Mothers Day so thought I would answer in a blog for those wondering. I am always more than happy to do Mummy and Me sessions any time of the year! It will always be one of my favourite sessions to capture after all Mum’s just have that special bond with their babies. Only difference is for Mothers Day I do special discounted prices hence why spots are always limited.
Enjoy this little sneak peek from a few of the Mummy and Me sessions over the past month.

Shaleah at 18…. Teen Portraits
If Last night I FINALLY shot at a new little spot I have been eyeing off for years! But me being very particular about my locations for my clients, wanted to trial it first. My friend Fee from Felicity Ford Photography was down from Karratha so we thought let’s do it. We packed up our gear and dragged my second born Shaleah, along to be our model for some teen portraits. Which by the way she loves 😉 I mean what 18 year old wouldn’t?! The light was as beautiful as I had hoped it would be and I look forward to exploring it further with coming sessions. For now I thought I would share some images from the session of my stunning daughter! Who I may be bias but totally think she is model material.
I must say as a photographer I always have great intentions of doing more sessions of my own babies and of course I get so busy doing it for everyone else that I sometimes am guilty of not getting around to it. This year I am putting it out there to do a session with each of my own babies so hold me to that!
If you are in the Pilbara and looking for a photographer, Fee is your girl. She is amazing at what she does and I highly recommend her. Hopefully I can get up there to shoot in the red dirt with her one day! You can find her here http://www.felicityford.com
If you would like a session for your baby whether they are 1 week or 18, get in contact today.
