With Mothers Day creeping up on us it’s time we thought about celebrating with some beautiful Mummy and Me photos! One of my favourite things to capture and something I continue to come back to year after year.
I think most would agree with me that the past few years have really taken an emotional toll on many families. So many people separated from their loved ones and even if we haven’t been separated from them it has made us realise how short life is and how incredibly important they are to us.
So although I will still be hosting Mummy and Me sessions I decided to open up a few options so this year for those who have their Mums/grandmothers near by and want to celebrate them too. I have also created a beautiful Boho themed Mummy and Me set especially for our Mums for Mothers Day.
Mothers Day specials will run through March, April and May with May being for Full session options and backup dates only for any reschedules due to COVID. Any questions relating to COVID? Please click here for details.
Please read over options below to work out what is the best option for you and your babies. Some options will be more flexible with dates etc where are studio sessions will be set dates only.

Please note mothers day sessions aren’t suitable for multiple families (as in you and your sister and or brothers kids as well). For extended family sessions I always recommend a full extended family session, see more information below.
Family – Extended Family Sessions
Families of course should always be celebrated whether that be immediate family pics or extended family! But for those wanting Dad and both grandparents, brothers and sisters families included please keep your eyes peeled as I will be celebrating 10 years in business in June with some family session options.
Of course if you are lucky enough to have your beautiful extended family come visit outside these times get in contact and I will always try and cater to make it happen for you. I am always limited when it comes to family sessions but I do really understand how important it is to capture those precious times so I will always do my best to fit you in when possible.

Covid – What Steps are we taking?
With COVID now in the community we are regularly updating rules and regulations according with the latest health advice. We really appreciate clients being understanding during this time, we understand it has and is affecting many people in various ways and it certainly has been fun trying to keep up with changes running a small business.
Our aim is to always keep families as safe as possible whilst capturing precious memories. After all, Life is too short to wait. I think the past few years has certainly taught us that. But this does mean that ultimately some sessions may be affected as far as reschedules go however we are trying to avoid disruptions as much as possible. We will always work together to create the best solution for everyone if in fact your session is affected.
If you or your child is a high risk please contact us via email and we can set up a call to go over any concerns you may have.
Rules and Regulations
We ask that all clients (all team members will be doing the same) to follow health advice according to their situation.
Studio Sessions –
- Clients are asked to check in on arrival and sanitise hands.
- Please wear a mask on arrival whilst we speak or you complete payment. Of course this comes off for your shoot.
- Cleaning will be completed between sessions like wiping down surfaces and blanket. If you prefer to bring your own blanket or the likes to avoid using ours feel free this can add a nice personal touch. Ours will be washed each day however obviously can only be wiped down between clients.
Outdoor Sessions –
- Clients are asked to sanitise hands on arrival.
- Please social distance where possible before and after your session.
- If you prefer to bring your own blanket to avoid using ours feel free this can add a nice personal touch.
What if you have to reschedule due to isolation etc?
New dates will be used as a back up for any sessions that are affected by this. Those who are booked in for full sessions or Option 2 for our Mothers Day sessions have more flexibility when it comes to rescheduling dates.
Can I get a refund if I have to cancel my session?
Please understand that no refunds will be given however we have a few options available to you.
- Reschedule – Those with full sessions or option 2, we work with you to lock in a back up date suitable for both parties. These are the most flexible sessions. Those with our Option 1 for our Mothers Day sessions (mini sessions) you will be given backup dates that we have set aside for any disruptions. We aim to have them on the same day and times as you had booked where possible.
- Transfer your spot to a friend or family. They will need to contact me ASAP and go over all details.
- Credit note – For those who a reschedule or transfer doesn’t work for we will credit the amount paid to another session. Credit can be used for any session within Kristy Lee Photography or Boudoir by Kristy Lee but need to be held in 2022. Please note both full family and boudoir sessions are limited so booking in advance is a must.
I hope this covers any questions you may have in regards to COVID and what we have in place. I cannot wait to see you all for our upcoming Mothers Day sessions and I am getting super excited about our 10th Birthday celebrations later in the year!
Mummy and Me Sessions Are coming back for 2021
Every year for the past 8 years I have been offering Mummy and Me sessions over the April/May period to celebrate Mothers Day. Not only are Mum’s and their babies one of my favourite things to photograph, I find them so super special and each year they become bigger and better. You see as Mothers we are usually the ones taking the photos, the ones who put ourselves to the side and make sure our babies come first for everything. The truth is, getting in the photos with your babies isn’t just for us. It is for our babies future so in years to come they have YOU in the photos with them. I know myself now as a 38 year old woman, I would give anything to have these photos from my own childhood with my own Mother. You are creating life long memories frozen in time and in the form of art that will be cherished for many years to come.
Mothers Day Sessions are suitable for Mums and their children and will be done at outdoor locations around the Rockingham area. Grandmothers can take part as well but just know that sometimes those moments just with your babies are that little bit more special when it is just you and them so are designed with Mums and their babies in mind. If you are wanting to have Dad in photos please contact us about a family session as Dad’s aren’t welcome in Mummy and Me sessions (sorry Dads but it’s all about Mum this time). But this time of year is amazing for outdoor photos and I currently have a few openings for family photos in May so if you would like to include Dad contact me to get more details.
PRE CONSULTATION – we will discuss location best for your family, products and collections and styling advice if needed
SESSION – 30 minute outdoor session in the Rockingham Area
ORDERING APPOINTMENT – You will confirm your order within 7 days of your session at an ordering appointment in the studio where you select your images
BONUSES – Beautiful Australian made products will be available to order and bonuses are given for those who select and prepay for a collection BEFORE their session
Spots are limited and usually sell fast with sessions held throughout April and May 2021. I do have some flexibility to change a few of the dates but limited to 8 bookings total. Please contact Kristy if you would like to discuss other date availability.
$200 non refundable Booking fee is to be paid at the time of booking which is then credited to your order
$300 is the minimum order and is to be paid before your session (so $100 before your session)
If you have any questions at all please speak to Kristy before booking
Average spend on Mummy and Me Sessions past years has been $600. Prints start at $60 and digitals $150. Collections start at $495 and include some digital and prints.
Multiple payment options now available including Interest Free Payment plans which are available to those approved before sessions and credit card.
Hannah’s Family – Perth Family Photographer
As a family photographer it is always a pleasure when you get peopler like Hannah and her beautiful babies book you. They are such gorgeous souls.
We are so lucky here in Perth to have the BEST winter sunsets. They always create something magical for my clients who opt for a winter outdoor session. Hannah was a little nervous because she had never had professional photos before which is totally normal. I always aim to make my clients comfortable in front of the camera so I select locations that are generally fairly quiet so we don’t have too many bystanders. And of course I want my clients to have the feeling of me not being there and although I guide them a little I like the camera to really capture their story.
This time of year from Autumn through early spring is my favourite time of year to do outdoor family photography sessions. Most are scared off by the cooler weather but the truth is, Perth in Summer has harsh sunsets over the ocean with crazy winds. This time of year the days that aren’t washed out are generally stunning sunsets, soft lighting, calmer winds and just so perfect for outdoor family photos. Not to mention the snuggles under the blankets you get to keep warm.

Gemma’s Family – Perth Family Photographer
This year has certainly been a strange year for everyone. Closing my doors during lockdown for Perth from the end of April for a few months really made me realise how much I missed and loved my job as a family photographer. I was so happy that when I able to open the doors again at the end of May that I had a number of beautiful families lined up ready to go. So many of them saying to me how lockdown had made them realise how they were missing those precious photos over the years on their walls.
I think in this day and age, we are so busy that time just gets away from us and before we know it we are 5-10 years down the track with no family photos to show for it. Or we get photos of our babies and don’t get in the photos ourself. I am totally guilty of this myself. Waiting until I loose some weight or that magical day when I think I would feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Which is actually crazy considering it’s my job to make others feel comfortable in front of the camera so know that a great professional photographer will make you feel that way.
Anyway, I had so much fun with Gemma and her family. I had met her babies for a Christmas Session before so was so happy that Gemma was jumping in some photos this time. She had requested a shoot at her property and to be honest I am always a little wary of this. The reasons are usually because I have specific locations I use because I know those specific locations give my clients a few different looks for their session, I know the lighting and what to expect from it so I can give my clients the best results. However when I asked Gemma to send me photos of their property I was like OF COURSE we can do your session there. It was perfect with autumn leaves everywhere with stunning light coming in over the west. I couldn’t of picked a better place myself.

With Spring just around the corner it’s time to come off my outdoor break and make use of this stunning light and calm evenings that Perth Springs have to offer. The truth is that even though it’s a little cooler than summer, the nights are much better for photos with winds being much nicer to us and the light not quite as harsh as that summer light.
And to celebrate this beautiful time of year, I am offering 5 lucky families $200 off their Family outdoor session. With a choice of location in the Rockingham area, I cannot wait to help some special families capture those moments. Running, playing, loving on each other.
You can book directly via the link below.
Please do not hesitate on contacting me if you have any questions at all.

The Beauty Of Nude Maternity
Pregnancy. I would have to say as a women it is the most incredible times of our lives and as I get older I feel a sense of privilege. Not only for being able to carry 4 healthy babies to term myself but also being able to capture this amazing time in my clients lives. I know during pregnancy it’s sometimes hard to see ourselves as beautiful as our body is changing so rapidly. But trust me looking back with nothing from that time from mine, it is something you will treasure in years to come. I mean it’s sometimes think it’s more scary than beautiful but I see the beauty in ever bump and it brings me so much joy to be able to celebrate the womens body in these beautiful nude portraits I am now offering in studio.
It was so wonderful to capture these elegant and graceful images for my beautiful friend Corinna that she can treasure forever. The womens body doing something only we can do in it’s purest form.
Newborn Session – Aisla
Miss Aisla came into the studio last week for her newborn session and I must say I am always excited when the parents have special requests. Especially when it is something meaningful like bringing their culture into some of the photos. Beautiful little Aisla is lucky enough to have not 1 but 2 beautiful cultures to celebrate. Ashah (Mum) who who wanted to celebrate her Aboriginal culture and Dad Ben who wanted to incorporate his Maori culture. Two beautiful cultures combined to create something super special in the form of a magical little girl.
Are you expecting? I take very limited numbers of newborns per month due to the fact I prefer to do their photos in the first 2 weeks. And of course they never tend to go on their due date. This leaves a very short time frame to fit them in. It’s never too early to secure your dates. I lock in your due month and we lock a date in as soon as Bub arrives. As you can see from Aisla’s session, I am more than happy to incorporate special requests where possible. Please contact me if you have anything in particular you are after.
Can you believe I am already having bookings for Jan 2020?! Newborn photos are invaluable so I always suggest booking early to avoid missing those first precious moments. Prices will also be increasing in 2020 but all bookings done before prices are confirmed will be locked in at 2019 pricing. Feel free to message me to discuss your options. I also have these helpful blogs to help guide you on choosing a photographer that is right for you.

Newborn Photos – Neath
As you would know from a previous blog, I have photographed this beautiful family for each and every new arrival. So it was of course a pleasure when Mr Neath arrived earlier this month and came for his newborn photos. All of Jo and Gav’s babies have looked so similar! But as you can see by Eira and Brecon they grow into their own little person with big beautiful personalities and I have no doubt Neath will be the same.
I love including the whole family with my newborn sessions. Generally we get the family and sibling photos done first so Dad can take the kids for some special one on one time and I finish the newborn session with the new addition whilst Mum relaxes. Win win for everyone and the kids love the fact they get Dad to themselves for a while. And of course Mum’s always love to relax 😉
