Shaleah at 18…. Teen Portraits
If Last night I FINALLY shot at a new little spot I have been eyeing off for years! But me being very particular about my locations for my clients, wanted to trial it first. My friend Fee from Felicity Ford Photography was down from Karratha so we thought let’s do it. We packed up our gear and dragged my second born Shaleah, along to be our model for some teen portraits. Which by the way she loves 😉 I mean what 18 year old wouldn’t?! The light was as beautiful as I had hoped it would be and I look forward to exploring it further with coming sessions. For now I thought I would share some images from the session of my stunning daughter! Who I may be bias but totally think she is model material.
- Fee works her magic
I must say as a photographer I always have great intentions of doing more sessions of my own babies and of course I get so busy doing it for everyone else that I sometimes am guilty of not getting around to it. This year I am putting it out there to do a session with each of my own babies so hold me to that!
If you are in the Pilbara and looking for a photographer, Fee is your girl. She is amazing at what she does and I highly recommend her. Hopefully I can get up there to shoot in the red dirt with her one day! You can find her here http://www.felicityford.com

Tish & John Got Engaged!!
About a month ago my gorgeous friend Tish got engaged to the love of her life John. I am so excited for them and cannot wait to help them celebrate their love. Although I don’t do wedding photography, I thought what better way than to do engagement photos to capture that love and those tender moments. Something they can look back on and remember this exciting time in their lives. Here is an extended sneak peek of their session which was done at a local beach location. You can almost feel the love just by looking at the photos. Those touches, those looks, those smiles, argh!

Mummy and Me Sessions Officially Kicked Off
Mummy and Me Sessions for 2019 have officially kicked off! Anyone that has seen my sessions would of heard me talk about how much I love doing them. You see there is something super special about getting a Mum with their babies to just hang out and capture those special moments. For me as an adult I look back and sadly I don’t actually know if I have any photos of just my Mum and I or even with all of my siblings when we were young. Now as an adult I would cherish those photos and they would be completely priceless. Even though we take selfies with our babies (some of us do), we aren’t really in the moment and it’s not the same. It’s all about those tight squeeze hugs, those tender kisses, those soft touches and those loving looks. It’s all about your story as a Mother. When our babies grow up they will want to have those memories to look back on and pass on to their babies with you in them. And Dad’s!!! Your wife will love you forever for organising a session.
Sascha and her Tribe
Sascha and her babies were the lucky winners of my give-away I did recently on my Facebook page. After the session we got talking and Sascha told me it had been 10 years since she had photos and 2 of her babies were not even born. I would love to say I was shocked but sadly I wasn’t. Unfortunately it’s a common thing I hear with people always meaning to get photos but always putting it off for one reason or another. I mean come on I get it, life gets busy! My best advise is to just book a date and pay a deposit. Once a date is locked in you just make it happen. If you want to book but have some questions, just send me an email or give me a call. I’d love to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.
Mummy and Me Sessions are almost fully booked with just 1 session left. I do have a few gift vouchers left for sessions to be held in the weeks after Mothers Day so my if you are thinking about it get in contact today or you may miss out. I am also taking bookings for family sessions for May through to June 2019. Feel free to contact me using the tab below for more information. Bookings for Mummy and Me session can be done here https://kristyleephotography.com.au/recent-posts/mummy-me-sessions/

I truly believe that people come into your life each to teach you lessons in life. That goes for friends, family and even clients. I first met Hayley and Alex back in 2013 when they were pregnant with their first little boy. They had been given the devastating news that he had a congenital heart defect and would not survive once earth side. As you can imagine it was devastating news for them.
Our first meeting was in the studio doing an early maternity session so Hayley had those memories frozen of carrying this beautiful baby. I won’t lie, it was hard for them, and hard for me as I just couldn’t fathom what they must be feeling.
They then went on to have their little man and named him Jaxon.
Now you probably hear me say it all the time but it’s times like this that really makes me realise how precious my job as a professional photographer is. One of my favourite quotes is “You never know the value of a photograph until it’s all you have left.” I feel that photographs capture not only a memory frozen in time but makes you remember the touch, the smell, the feelings – everything about that single moment that has stood still in time. And that right there is priceless. That is something that day when I met this gorgeous couple truly was engrained so deeply in my soul that I know it has made me a better person and photographer for.
Pregnant with Jaxon
As devastating as our first meeting was, I have been so lucky to capture their parenthood journey as they welcomed Ryder and the little Everly.

Baby Bump Number 4
So I want to remind you all to Capture your moments just like Hayley and Alex have done. Don’t keep putting it off because life is too precious. Photography is one of the rare things that you can invest in that only gets more valuable over the years that pass.

But every now and then I get a baby who proves me wrong and smashes the whole modelling gig and Baby Violet was certainly one of them! If you have missed those first few weeks please don’t beat yourself up about it. Book your baby in as soon as possible because why wouldn’t you want these beautiful moments up on your wall?

Baby Bump – Williams Family
There is something special about capturing a beautiful baby bump. BUT it becomes even more special when you get to watch a family grow and capture each and every pregnancy. I first met Jo and Gav when they were pregnant with their first Bub who turned out to be the beautiful little Eira. Since then they’ve grown with a little man and now expecting their third. I must say I get so excited when clients contact me telling me of their pregnancies and half the time I am one of the first to know! They always get in early with bookings because they know I tend to book out in advance.
I love that the Williams have these gorgeous memories in huge frames hanging in their home. There is nothing better as a photographer than knowing your work is on display on a clients wall, after all we do create art for them to cherish for years to come and it’s so much better on a wall than stashed away on a usb somewhere.
- Flash Back to their 1st Pregnancy
- Then, Eira waiting to become a big sister
- Before and After with Breckon
Soon to be Family of 5

Mummy & Me Sessions Release
As a Mother myself to now teenagers,I know that feeling when you look back over photos from over the years and more common than not there is always someone missing. Yes you guessed it, Mum! It’s a heart sinking kind of feeling. And let me ask you this – how many photos do you have of you and your own Mum growing up? I feel this ‘missing mum’ happens for many reasons. Firstly we are usually the one taking the photos but over the years for me, and I know many other Mum’s we were waiting for the time that we didn’t have those bags under our eyes. Waiting until we lost those last few kilos, waiting until the kids were a better age. Waiting for a time we weren’t so harsh on ourselves. But no time is the perfect time and we miss so many special moments waiting. So stop waiting and lock a session in today.
After last years sessions selling out, I am so excited to announce the release of my Mummy & Me sessions to celebrate Mothers Day 2019. There is something special about Mummy & Me sessions. Seeing the way the Mum’s interact with their babies, the way they look at them, the way they make them smile and giggle. It’s seriously making me all gooey inside!! Whatever it is, we are always waiting! It wasn’t until quite recently after some tragedies flashed across our news that I really realized how precious these photos are. We NEED to be in the photos with our babies, and if it’s not for us then do it for your babies. Stop putting it off. It’s not just the gorgeous smiles we want to remember, it’s how they hold your hand, how they look into your eyes, how they hug you so tightly you think your eyes are going to pop out! When they are older they will LOVE looking back at that special connection you had. And what better time than Mothers Day!

OUTDOOR SESSIONS –
I have been so torn whether or not to offer outdoor mini sessions again this year. But I have decided at this stage I am not releasing any outdoor mini sessions. And to be honest I am still not 100% certain whether or not it will be something I offer a little closer to Christmas.
A few reasons for my decision for the moment – firstly, the location I prefer for mini sessions isn’t currently suitable for sessions. I am uncertain if this will change or if I will find something suitable that I am 100% happy with in time. So I refuse to book sessions with no location that I’m happy with locked in. Secondly as they are done at sunset, it makes timing really limited to 2-3 sessions a day. And with my limited available days, they are booking up fast for full family sessions which I always prefer when shooting outdoors.
You see outdoor sessions have a high element of lifestyle to them so I don’t like limiting the time for photos. I find a lot of the best images come toward the end of a session when everyone is super relaxed. Also lighting of course changes so much throughout the hour with the best toward the end.
Prefer Outdoors?
If you prefer outdoors (and I personally think it is better for older children),
then I highly recommend locking one of the dates left in because I am very limited. You have a say on your preferred style for location (unlike my minis) and I have a range of packages available.
For the month of November, any full family session that purchases a digital package, will receive a personalized digital Christmas card and you are more than welcome to bring some Christmas items for a few photos as well.
Towards the middle to end of November I will make a Final decision on whether or not any outdoor minis will be opened up. This will depend on my availability as full sessions always get first preference and also location suitability at the time.
Read MoreMeet Peanut, a 8 week old Cavoodle puppy. He came to visit me last week with his Mummy Maya for his very own pet photography session or newborn session. Why would we want to take photos of a puppy you ask? Well I know how important fur babies are and they deserve to have their special moments captured too. After all they too will only be this small once and just like a newborn baby, we forget the cuteness of them too.
If you have a new addition to your family, why not think about either shoot just for them or incorporating them with all the family.
